Majorly, there are Shaivas and Vaishnavas. Shaivas are those who treat Lord Shiva as the supreme God in the universe. Vaishnavas are those who treat Lord Vishnu and his incarnations as the supreme God and they follow everything as per the Vaishnava Hindu calendar. The 10 Mukhi Rudraksha bead is the major focal point for these Vaishnava clan people who worship Lord Vishnu and believe in the existence of Lord Vishnu in this Rudraksha bead.
Story of 10 Mukhi Rudraksha:-
10 Mukhi Rudraksha is the bead that was created from the tenth teardrop of Lord Shiva. There is a scenario described in the Vishnu Purana where Lord Shiva was meditating on Kailash Parvat and he was really upset with the way the humans on Earth were in pain due to a lot of miseries and issues.
These people needed some kind of help and Lord Shiva was in meditation so he could not wake up and go to help these people. Also, he knew his term on Earth was over and there was no way he could be present forever on earth to heal the miseries of everyone. So he cried over this realization.
There were teardrops that spread on the Kailash mountain and they solidified to make the seeds of Rudraksha trees. These were called Rudraksha because they were the tears of Lord Shiva and Lord Shiva is also called Rudra. Tears in Sanskrit are called Aksha. Thus, the teardrops were named Rudraksha.
When Lord Shiva opened his eyes after he completed his meditation, he informed his disciples, who were looking at him in awe and demanding an answer about the benefits of these Rudraksha seeds and how they can be planted to grow more such seeds.
Sam Veda talks about how when Bhusunda Muni asked Lord Kalagni Rudra about Rudraksha, he explained all he knew about them.
Lord Shiva divided each bead to each respective God for each kind of pain or issue mankind could face and would need help for. The bead 10 Mukhi Rudraksha was assigned to Lord Vishnu and his incarnations because Lord Vishnu had taken 10 incarnations while his time on Earth to help his disciples.
This is how 10 Mukhi Rudraksha was named the Rudraksha bead of Lord Vishnu and thus, it is worshipped and worn majorly by the Vaishnava community people.
